POEM: Eid Mubarak And Reminder To Fast The Sunnah Fasts In Shawwal

In the Name of Allah
The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

There's a difference, I have learned, between Eid
Gatherings in Saudi and in Philippines:
In Saudi, after the Eid prayer, cars would
Follow each other to a place, like a team.

We'd all go to a friend's house who volunteered
To host, while each family would bring some food -
Other times we'd go to an 'Istiraaha'
And rent a place with a field or swimming pool.

In the Philippines, after Eid, each group would
Visit their friends', relatives' and neighbors' homes -
Going from one house to another - each host
Would offer food, each with a style of its own.

The guests would greet the hosts, eat what they offer,
And on that day some have eaten noodles thrice,
Various kinds of meat cooked differently, and
Most would be full from eating rice more than twice.

MashaAllah the generosity of
People may vary from country to country,
Yet the good intentions inshaAllah is
The same: We do good for Allah's sake only.

Allah will inshaAllah reward those whom
Allah blessed with much wealth and fed the needy,
As well as those hungry visitors who earned
Reward for praying for their hosts sincerely.

Eid Mubarak to every Muslim worldwide.
May Allah the Most Kind accept our good deeds,
Forgive all our faults and guide us to what He
And His Messenger Muhammad [SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam] loves. Ameen.

Some lessons learned in Ramadan: Patience is
Worthwhile - things that are worthy are worth the wait.
Calmness is found while praying not fast but slow.
Sweet tears fall when with Allah you communicate.

The more you know, the more you'll like or hate - so
Choose wisely who to befriend and what to know.
To save more time, avoid: Procrastinating,
Too much facebook, idle talks and petty shows.

Before you judge someone, understand his state.
Give excuses like 'Maybe they were busy.'
One's wrongs will inshaAllah return to them
If they acted not coerced but willingly.

A reminder to all including myself:
Stick to the Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah.
Fast also the Sunnah fast of six days in
Shawwal, you'll be rewarded inshaAllah.

Wasalaam~

POEM: Thirty Ways To Do Charity/Sadaqa

In the Name of Allah
The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

A good deed that extinguishes Allah's Wrath,
Replacing it with His Love and guided ways -
Is an act of charity/sadaqah done
To please none but sincerely for Allah's sake.

Thirty ways to do sadaqah you can share,
Though still there are more ways to do charity.
One: Giving food to Muslims who are fasting,
Feeding hungry Muslims and your family.

Two: Giving gifts to Muslims they'll like or need,
Or souvenirs when you return from travel.
Three: Offering free rides or transportation.
Four: Making peace - saving Muslims from quarrels.

Five: Defending Muslims whom others backbite.
Six: Helping one find a righteous Muslim spouse.
Seven: Assisting Muslims in what is right -
In easing a task or in cleaning their house.

Eight: Removing from the way things which may harm.
Nine: Keeping the environment neat and clean.
Ten: Enjoining what's right, forbidding what's wrong,
Reminding a Muslim without being mean.

Eleven: Cheerfully making Muslims smile.
Twelve: Exchanging handshakes with those whom you can.
Thirteen: Letting Muslims borrow some good books.
Fourteen: Tutoring - helping one understand.

Fifteen: Giving directions to those astray.
Sixteen: Giving right answers to those who ask.
Seventeen: Taking care of young nieces and
Nephews, feeding them or giving them a bath.

Eighteen: Gently patting heads of orphaned kids.
Nineteen: Mercy to the needy and widows.
Twenty: Donating, sharing what you can give -
From footwear to clothes, mats, blankets and pillows.

Twenty one: Spending on your relatives, and
Giving them free Hajj trips or a place to stay.
Twenty two: Sharing Islam and good knowledge.
Twenty three: Feeding animals - pets or stray.

Twenty four: Helping Muslims make the right choice.
Twenty five: Giving advice when asked for it.
Twenty six: In gatherings, keeping Muslims
Company or finding them a place to sit.

When on facebook - twenty seven: Sharing links
To good websites that can benefit others.
Twenty eight: 'Liking' a user's comment or
Post out of mercy, as to you they matter.

Twenty nine: Correcting a Muslim's mistake,
Not from pride, but because about them you care.
Heaven near Allah is where you wish to be -
Thus you help guide them, so they too will be there.

Thirty: If your money is not enough yet,
And you don't have much to give for Allah's sake,
You can always include all Muslims in your
Du'as - pray for the Ummah each night and day.

Let your tears, your du'as and good intentions
Be among the many reasons for God's love.
No need for men's praise as you do charity.
That Allah knows all that you do it's enough.

May Allah the Most Kind accept our good deeds,
May they be among the ways to His Mercy.
Ameen. True Muslims love doing Sadaqah,
And for Allah's sake find ways to do charity.

ISLAMIC NOTES: Eleven Forms Of Sadaqa/Charity

In the Name of Allah
The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

It was narrated that Allah's Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam said: "Every person must perform a charity each day that the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity. And the good word is a charity [good words such as kind advice, enjoining good deeds and forbidding evil, sharing reminders and sincere compliments]. And every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the people's way is a charity."

[Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

Examples Of Sadaqa/Charity:
1. Feeding hungry, needy or fasting Muslims.
2. Giving a gift or souvenir to a Muslim.
3. Offering a ride or transportation for free.
4. Defending Muslims who are oppressed or who are being badly spoken of.
5. Reconciling and making peace between Muslims.
6. Finding a righteous spouse for a Muslim.
7. Assisting a Muslim or helping Muslims in only what is good.
8. Removing harmful items from people's way and keeping the environment clean.
