POEM: Alhamdulillah That My Loving Parents Were Strict

In the Name of Allah
The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

To teens who whine about their parents' strictness,
To adults who believe they were well brought up,
To future folks and parents who love their kids:
Strict parents have their ways of proving their love.

When your parent forces you to go to school,
And won't allow you to be absent that day,
When your parent says 'bring your lunch', save money,
Don't overspend, never tell lies, don't be late,

When your parent wants you to befriend others
And not those gangs who are a bad influence,
When your parent asks you to do your homework,
To respect your teachers, and choose the right friends,

When your parent snatches the cigars from you,
Throws away some dirty trash found in your room,
When your parent confiscates some DVDs,
Or commands you not to use so much perfume,

When your parent says no to that shirt you like,
Says no to mini dresses and cosmetics,
No to bad manners and procrastination -
Remember that good parents do what is best.

When your parent wakes you up for suhoor meal,
Gets you up for prayer though you feel so tired,
Know that they want you to succeed in both worlds -
Through faith, good deeds and hard work each day and night.

When your parent orders you to wear hijaab,
Tells you to be nice to your younger brothers,
To give a dish to the next-door neighbors, and
To help with the assignment of your sisters,

When your parent scolds you for some wrongdoings,
Hits you for saying a word you should not use,
Reprimands or gives advice with a raised voice,
Or grounds you when you did not do well at school -

Take note that those are some ways strict parents love.
Strict parents love as they guide and rectify,
Observe their kids' behaviour, teach them what's right,
Reward good and bad acts, remind and advise.

Bad kids who go around stealing, telling lies,
Making fun of others and committing crimes,
Are products of parents who were ignorant -
Disrespected too by their kids day and night.

Alhamdulillah for our parents' strictness -
We do what's right without needing to be told,
Always we include them in our good du'as,
And will be there for them even when they're old.

Thank you beloved parents for loving us,
Thank you for helping us learn about Islam,
For teaching us what we should and should not do,
For each experience that made us understand.

May Allah the Most Kind reward our parents
With a grand entry to Firdaus Al-A'laa,
May Allah the Almighty meet us smiling
And reunite us in Heaven near RasulAllah
Muhammad SallAlllahu 'alaihi wa sallam. Ameen.

Wasalaam~

Include all Muslims worldwide in your good du'as :)

May Allah the Most Merciful accept all our good deeds, May Allah the Most Forgiving forgive all our sins, and May Allah the Almighty join us with His righteous friends in Firdaus/Heaven near Him and His beloved Messenger Muhammad sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam. Ameen.
