POEM: Islam Defines You Not Your Country

In the Name of Allah
The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

Brotherhood for Allah's sake :)

Some time ago I recall seeing a shawl,
A hijaab on it the flag of Palestine,
I would have loved to use if it were not
For that print that showed nationalistic pride.

When I pass by some comments on some websites,
Generalizing hatred on a country,
I think to myself that their claims are false, as
Many from U.S. are Muslims and friendly.

Having grown up in Saudi Arabia does
Not make me any more special than others.
Being white does not make one above the black.
From Adam and Eve, humans are like brothers -

Whether you're from Philippines or Pakistan,
Malaysia, England, Saudi, Egypt, Brazil -
Somalia, Morocco -whatever country,
We belong to One God, the Most Merciful.

So no looking down on people for their race,
For the languages they speak or for their tribe,
No irrational restrictions in marriage -
No overzealous nationalistic pride,

No injustice and fighting over a place -
If one wants peace and believes in God truly.
Islam is my faith, God's gift to all mankind.
Islam, not my country, is what defines me.

May Allah the Most Merciful forgive all our sins, accept all our good deeds and join us with Him and His noble Messenger Muhammad sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam in Firdaus/Heaven. Ameen.
